Good morning Internets! It is well before 6am, and The Boy and I are ensconced in airport chairs, ignoring each other in favour of our browsing. An excellent start to a honeymoon, neh? For the first time in awhile, I am actually not traveling with a book. I did download a couple of Anne books (specifically Anne of the Island and Anne of Avonlea) for some easy chicklit, should I feel the need, but I figured that since I generally spend mot of my travel wait time knitting, I’d focus on that.
So what am I knitting? Socks, of course! Not particularly exciting, but exciting for me both because I love the colors of this yarn (Purple, blue and green? This yarn was made for me! …Apparently I like bruise colours) but also because this is my first attempt at knitting two socks at a time. To keep things simple for myself, I also decided to do it on one circ — so this is also my first magic loop experience!
I’m using Wendy’s generic toe-up sock pattern, or will be, once I get past the toe increases, for which I used this technique, because crochet cast-ons squick me out. Figure eight, or Eastern, or whatever this was, are just fine, and because I am so very
anal detail-oriented, I am also a tight knitter*. Loose, floppy stitches out of a figure eight are never a problem for me.
* Oh, you don’t think those two are related? I can tell you that for the better part of this past week I have been dreaming about work and ways to wrap it up tidily for my backups. In fact, I woke up this morning, mentally in the middle of reviewing the work I’d been doing some four hours previous. On the cab ride to the airport I was still thinking of last minute details to email my salesguy. For someone who loves yoga, I can be remarkably bad at letting go.
But anyhow, socks. I have high hopes, what with these being my first two-at-a-time attempt, that I might actually finish them by the time we get back. Maybe not. It’ll depend on how much of the bus time is knit-worthy, but I’m still hoping! I shall report as sock progress continues!
