The Boy and I went on a little excursion on Friday night:
Just kidding. We decided to wrap the week up by heading off to the fair! A house near the fairgrounds had a cheerful welcome for fairgoers:
And I was completely stoked to wander through the livestock and petting zoo exhibits. I totaly fell in love with this spotty alpaca — like a mini-giraffe! I also tried to capture the gorgeous pheasants, but they were too speedy and skittish for me!
Although I didn’t enter anything this year, I now have a much better idea of what they’re looking for in the Kitchen Sciences contests. At least… in most categories! The Boy was slighty concerned to see the Cthulu-esque carrot there; didn’t His Squidiness have an edict about likenesses? Quiver. (Also, how cute is that little mouse-shaped spud?)
To top it all off, we both failed to win anything at skeeball, and wrapped up with a very healthy dinner. Ahem. We’d intended on also splitting a pulled pork sandwich (or bahbecue, for folks south of the border) but opted to head home for something a little more veggie-ful instead.
It was fun! I highly recommend that everyone check out their local Fall Fair; I actually regret not catching the Richmond Fair. Maybe next year!
