I don’t want to make my weekend sound glum — it wasn’t all sniffles and apple juice after all. On the Saturday, we got to attend the wedding of Nadia and Sean — a small and lovely wedding !
The fun actually started Friday night for me, when I picked up flowers and set to making the boutonnieres and bridal bouquet (with kitty assistance of course…).
Saturday morning, I finished up the bridesmaids bouquets, we dropped the flowers off, and then set out for our afternoon tasks: The Boy to help a friend haul some construction debris to the dump, and me to tire out our puppy as best as I could at the dog park. (Side-note: I love that park, but 3 hours there in the sunshine with no hat or water for me is just too much. At least I was wearing sunscreen?)
We actually weren’t at the ceremony itself, since City Hall only allows 10 people, but the bride did send a shot from the photos afterwards (which wasn’t taken by me, if you’re wondering why all my shots aren’t ever this good…):
While I’ve met Sean and chatted with him a bit, he is definitely still an acquaintance. Nadia, on the other hand, I’ve known for 3 years now, and I love the picture above because I think it captures her spirit perfectly.
Nadia is always elegant (I’ve only seen her in jeans once — at her bachelorette) and stylish and, despite some unlucky past boy stories, knows her own worth (hence the tiara). She maintains that she is a city girl trapped in a country girl’s body (pearls in her always-salon-coiffed hair) but never overdoes things with silly trappings. Her common sense and clean style come across in her dress and bouquet choice, I think, and most of all I love the way Sean is looking at her in that picture. Perfect snapshot of a happy day!
We caught up with the couple for their dinner, where there were speeches, tears (the good kind!), way too much food, and of course, clink-induced kissing:
It was a lovely wedding, and I feel so honoured that The Boy and I could be there to share it. Nadia and Sean, you guys mesh so perfectly, I can’t imagine how you two were ever without the other before. I am so happy for you both, and wish you years upon years of happiness, queen-size air mattress “camping”, and other stories. Congratulations!
